The barn

It has been quite an adventure preparing the Hamlet barn for performance. Last night we celebrated Dan's work on lighting up the barn. We had a fundraising goal of $2,000 for the cost of the electrical work. We held a campaign called "Light Up the Barn" to raise the money and this culminated in a BBQ music and barbecue event. At the end of the evening we brought the crowd around the barn to watch it light up. Watch Don Doebler's video of it here: VIDEO. I am also proud to say that we raised close to $3,000! Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Dan has worked incredibly hard to make light a possibility at the barn. There was no power and the space was not envisioned for theatrical activity but for making milk. Dan's creativity, gumption, and vision has created an incredible visual spectacle.
I love how Dan used a google earth image of the site for our reference. He then created a ground plan for the site, which was incredibly useful to me as a director as well. We used the image below as a frequent reference point for logistics, planning, and prep.

Below are a series of images from the last few nights of rehearsal and from Dan's tech process. Here you can see the lights in action.

Hamlet opens on Wednesday! Stay tuned!
